INDIAN WOMEN’S LEAGUE (IWL 2017) – LET THE GAME CONTROL YOU!

Are you football addicted? If yes, then save your dates for most happening tournament of the year. This incredible and unbelievable game gets better in India with Indian Women teams all set for competing in Professional League for the first time.

Football fever starts from January 28 with six teams contesting in New Delhi. All India Football Federation (AIFF), the governing body of the sport in India has launched the first ever Women’s Professional League. Live Streaming of IWL 2017 will be done by SPORTS BROADCAST (www.sportsbroadcast.tv). Sports Broadcast is a project of Multi Stream Broadcast (www.msbroadcast.tv), An Event & Broadcast company based in New Delhi.

All matches of this two-week long football fun in Indian Women’s League (IWL) will be played at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium.

The six participating teams — FC Alakhpura (Haryana), Jeppiaar Institute of Technology FC (Puducherry), Aizawl FC (Mizoram), FC Pune City (Maharashtra), Rising Student Club (Odisha) and Eastern Sporting Union (Manipur) — would play each other in a round robin format with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals.

The six top teams qualified after competing total of 20 teams from across 9 states.

This effort is worth at the time when Indian Women are eyeing to qualify for FIFA women’s World Cup in 2019. At present our women’s team is ranked 54 in the world much ahead of men’s ranking of 129. There is a pretty good chance of our women team this time if they put in the right effort.

Women’s game in the country will get benefited through this league. According to AIFF this is a beginning for women’s game in the the country.They are starting with six teams and hope to expand it to 16 by next year. Its a professional league so there will be a good chance for women footballers to take up this fantastic game as a career option. The federation also hoping that it will inspire women footballers of the country to work towards a goal.

Expectations are high now from Indian football to progress at a greater pace. And higher with Women footballers because of the fact that today women are ahead of men in every field. If they perform well than this will also earn greater laurels for the country in the international tournaments. This time government is also ready to help in every possible way as insured by the Sports Minister of India Vijay Goel.

So the moment is on, Six teams are now ready to battle it out for one goal. The inaugural Indian Women’s League will kick off in Delhi on January 28. It will surely help improve the standard of women’s football in India and achieve the goal Indian Football waiting for a long time.
